Alcohol Concern is the national agency on alcohol misuse. It works to reduce the incidence and costs of alcohol-related harm and to increase the range and quality of services available to people with alcohol-related problems.

It provides information and encourages debate on the wide range of public policy issues affected by alcohol; including public health, housing, children and families, crime and licensing. It supports specialist and non-specialist service providers helping to tackle alcohol problems at a local level, whilst also working to influence national alcohol policy.

You can download Fact sheets - e.g. "Health impacts of alcohol", brief treatment interventions and the Health Development Agency screening tool "Manual for Fast Alcohol Screening Test (FAST)" which is for use in primary care.

The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) was formed in 1993. Their objective is to improve the quality of health care for patients in Scotland by reducing variation in practice and outcome, through the development and dissemination of national clinical guidelines containing recommendations for effective practice based on current evidence.

Yes even an alcohol site for nurses! The Nursing Council on Alcohol was launched in November 2000 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Nursing Council on Alcohol (NCA) is a member of the national strategic alliance supporting the WHO collaborative Phase IV project on implementing countrywide screening and brief alcohol intervention strategies in primary health care in England.

Wansbeck Alcohol project is a structured alcohol service to detect and treat alcohol misuse for anyone over the age of 18 who has difficulty with Alcohol misuse.
